Corporate History

EMA S.A. was founded by Christos Tsoukalis of Loukas (1922-2014) in the mid- 1950s.

The founder was born in the village of Vourbiani of Konitsa in Epirus and was raised in Thessaloniki, where he graduated from Anatolia College. After the German occupation he came to Athens and dealt with the trading of automotive spare parts, machines, lubricants and tires.

A limited liability company is established under the trade name "EMA - TYRES, MACHINERY, SPARE PARTS, Ltd".
1956
A contract is signed for the exclusive sale and distribution of Engelbert tyres in Greece, which, following their acquisition, become known as Uniroyal.
1963
EMA becomes a Société Anonyme and introduces ARAL lubricants to the Greek market for the first time, the largest petrol station and lubricant production company in Germany at the time.
1974
EMA signs a contract for the exclusive dealership and distribution of Aral lubricants in the Greek market.
1978
The company buys office and warehouse facilities in Kifissia and, two years after, it is relocated from its offices in Victorias Square.
1990
With a view to further expand, the company is thoroughly reorganised and joined by new high-profile executives from well-known multinational companies, with long experience and expertise in the areas of marketing management and logistics.
1993
The company launches a franchise network of car repair shops called "Fit&Go", which provides car repair and maintenance services. The first two shops operate in Vouliagmenis Avenue and Neos Kosmos. Consequently, it acquires PANDA SA and adds another 4 car repair shops in the network. At its maturity stage, the Fit&Go network included 19 car repair shops in Attica, Thessaloniki and Heraklion, Crete.
2000
The company expands with modern leased warehouse facilities in Aspropirgos, Attica, with a total area of 5,800 sq.m.
2004
The company decides to expand the activities of "Fit&Go" network, by creating model facilities for vehicle refinishing, painting, repair and maintenance services of 1,800 sq.m. in Peania, Attica, which operated until 2013. In March of that year, it signed an agreement to deal and distribute Dutch lubricants 77.
2008
It signs an agreement with BP Hellas to deal and distribute Castrol lubricants.
2009
It renews and extends the cooperation agreement with Continental Group until 2020, in order to deal and distribute Continental, Uniroyal, Barum, Semperit and Viking tyres.
2014
It renews and extends the cooperation agreement with Continental Group until 2022, in order to market and distribute Continental, Uniroyal, Barum, Viking and General tyres.
2016
It extends the cooperation agreement with the Group until 2028, in order to deal and distribute Continental, Uniroyal, Barum, Viking and General tyres.
2021
It signs a cooperation agreement with Kumho Tire until 2024, in order to deal and distribute Kumho tires.
2022
Beginning of the distribution of Trazano tyre brand in the Greek market.
2022
Beginning of the distribution of Aplus and Comforser tyre brands in the Greek market.
